My original query is contained below. I received one real response to my query regarding production plotting plotting from ArcGis. I also received a TON of out of office replies. I hope all of you are enjoying your vacations. Thanks to Dennis Roose of Edgetech America Inc (droose@edgetech-us.com). Dennis suggested the following: 1. You can set the data frame extent in its properties dialog to show only the data within a specific area. 2. You could also set bookmarks (under the View menu) for all the locations where people would want to zoom in 3. You could save the maps as .mxt (Map Templates) ahead of time and have the end-user select a map template when she/he starts. All of which are valid suggestions, but not the solution I was hoping for. Using any of these methods, I would have to create approximately 148,000 "templates" (4000 Montana townships + (4000 townships * 36 sections)). I am looking for scripts/3rd party solutions which will automate the plotting process and not require the creation of 148,000 templates. I cannot believe that ArcMap does not have the ability to pull this off! Any more suggestions are welcome. ****************************** Bob Holliday Geographic Information Systems Bureau State of Montana Department of Administration Information Technology Services Division PO Box 200113 Helena, MT 59620-0113 rholliday@state.mt.us http://MtGeo.org Voice 406.444.0770 Fax 406.444.2701 ****************************** -----Original Message----- From: Holliday, Robert [mailto:rholliday@STATE.MT.US] Sent: Friday, December 07, 2001 11:19 AM To: ESRI-L@ESRI.COM Subject: [ESRI-L] production plotting from ArcGis 8.1 Hello Folks, I currrently have an AML which allows the user to select township and/or section and a standardized map is produced based on the chosen geographic extent. Is there a third party solution or have any of you figured out how to do this in the ArcGis/VBA environment? I will summarize. ****************************** Bob Holliday Geographic Information Systems Bureau State of Montana Department of Administration Information Technology Services Division PO Box 200113 Helena, MT 59620-0113 rholliday@state.mt.us http://MtGeo.org Voice 406.444.0770 Fax 406.444.2701 ******************************
